Fifth Annual Meeting

Dear Associates:

The fifth annual meeting of the Associates on June 9 was attended by a hundred members and guests who received a progress report by the University Librarian on the continued growth, accomplishments, and valuable contributions of the Associates. He reported that the Board of Trustees recently approved the initiation of a new fund for the acquisition of books on business and finance and a special fund for fine arts books.

The guest speaker at the annual meeting, Dr. David M. Abshire, '59 Ph.D., Chairman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, presented an excellent analysis of current international political and economic problems and discussed prospects for the future in various areas of the world.

At the Board of Trustees meeting on June 9, the number of Trustees was increased to thirty-five, with the election of the following new Trustees:

Fourteen original Trustees were re-elected for another term. John W. Snyder was re-elected Chairman and John S. Mayfield was elected Vice Chairman.
