Cultural Weekend
We are pleased to announce that the library will sponsor an Irish Cultural Weekend next Spring. This cultural event is made possible by the generosity of Mrs. Rose Maguire Saul Zalles of Washington who has long been active in fostering appreciation of Irish culture. Mrs. Zalles donated to Georgetown her library of books on Irish art, literature and history which will be the nucleus for development of a fine collection of books on Irish history and culture. Information about the Irish Cultural Weekend will be sent to Associates next February. James Joyce Portrait The library has received from an anonymous donor a new portrait of James Joyce painted by local Washington artist Joan Caryl. The Joyce portrait has been placed near the Caryl portrait of Gerard Manley Hopkins in the fifth floor foyer of the library.
