Gallery of Living Catholic Authors Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri, recently gave to Georgetown the archives of the Gallery of Living Catholic Authors. The Gallery was founded in 1932 by Sister Mary Joseph of the Sisters of Loretto to give attention to modern Catholic literature and to provide a depository for manuscripts, letters, photographs, and books by contemporary Catholic writers. This unparalleled collection includes manuscripts by Hilaire Belloc, Roy Campbell, Padraic Colum, Eric Gill, Paul Horgan, Mary Lavin, Sir Shane Leslie, Marie Belloc Lowndes, Sir Arnold Lunn, Fr. Vincent McNabb, Jacques and Raissa Maritain, Kathleen Norris, Alfred Noyes, Sheila Kaye-Smith, Sigrid Undset, Evelyn Waugh, and hundreds of other writers. The Gallery collection will add an important new dimension to the research potential of the library's material in the field of Catholic studies. |
