Spalding Book Endowment Fund

Associates trustee Caroline Smith, '75 AB, has established the Spalding Book Endowment Fund with a gift of $15,000 which will provide perpetual income for acquisition of books on American studies. Miss Smith has made several previous gifts of funds and books to the library. She is a descendant of the Spaldings who settled in Maryland about 1650 and later in Kentucky and Georgia, and she named this fund in their honor.

Captain Miles DuVal Endowed Book Collection

Capt. DuVal's latest gift of $5000 brings this fund to $25,470. It was established by Capt. DuVal, '37MFS, to provide for the acquisition of books and related material on the Panama Canal and naval history. He is a descendant of an early American family who settled in Virginia in 1701, and is a retired Navy officer and author of books on the Panama Canal.
