Printing The library received two printing presses as gifts in 1981: a Vandercook SP-proof press from John Bankert, president of Modern Machinery, Baltimore; and also a Vandercook SP-15, the gift of Carl Swanson, owner of the Swanson Typesetting Service in Baltimore. It is hoped that an Associates keepsake will be one of the first productions. Mrs. Patricia G. England has given several books about printing and printers, including good examples of work by Will Bradley, the Blue Sky Press, the Roycrofters, and others. She also gave Benjamin Franklin and His Press at Passy (Grolier Club, 1914), designed by Bruce Rogers. Associates interested in printing
or in the collection of fine printed books are invited to contact the
Special Collections Librarian, George M. Barringer. |
