President Harry S. Truman

Library Associates Trustee Malcolm C. McCormack (SFS'49, MFS'51, LHD'78), who is Executive Secretary of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, has given to the library the recently published book Harry S. Truman: A Biography of His Times and Presidency, a volume of 348 pages containing more than 3000 annotated references of books, articles, dissertations and documents pertaining to the Truman era. Arranged by major subjects such as foreign relations, domestic problems and programs, it is an essential guide for anyone interested in studying any aspect of the Truman presidency. As many of our Associates are aware, the Chairman of the Library Associates, the Honorable John W. Snyder, was a close friend of President Truman and served as Secretary of the Treasury, 1945-53, during the Truman presidency. Mr. Snyder initiated and organized the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation which awards annually over one hundred scholarships to college students preparing for careers in government.
