Associates Membership Goal

The Board of Trustees of the Associates is pleased to report that the number of charter members has increased to more than 350. The charter membership goal for the first year is 400 members and this goal can be reached quickly and surpassed if each present charter member assists by enlisting one additional new member. The basic contribution for alumni and friends is $15.00. Checks should be made to GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LIBRARY ASSOCIATES and sent to the University Librarian, Georgetown University Library, 37th and O Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20057.

Library Services for Associates

We announced in the first Newsletter that membership in the Associates entitles you to a special patron library card which enables you to borrow books, read and do research in the library, listen to recordings, see films and videotapes, attend special lectures and seminars, and enjoy other appropriate library privileges and services. We are pleased that many members have obtained special patron cards. Associates wishing to receive a card should write or call the University Librarian.

Associates Gifts are Tax Deductible

Your contributions and gifts to the Library, including books, manuscripts, money, stocks and bonds, and other valuables, are deductible for federal and state income tax purposes to the extent provided by law.

You can obtain information about appraisal of your books and manuscripts by calling or writing the University Librarian.

The University Librarian has a permanent record of your gifts and contributions, and a letter of acknowledgement and appreciation for each contribution is sent to you. Your contributions and gifts to the Library Associates are reported to the Office of University Development where a permanent record is maintained. All funds given to the Associates are sent to the University Treasurer and deposited in a special account from which expenditures can be made only by approval of the Library Associates Board of Trustees.
