Holiday Card

The image for the Library's 2001 holiday card comes from a decorated page in an early Scottish musical manuscript part-book created by Thomas Wood, ca. 1586. The book is housed in the Library's Special Collections Division. The verse, which continues into the following page of the manuscript, is from Psalm 41:

The man is blest that carefull is, the ne[e]dy to consider,
For in ye season perilous ye Lord will him deliver;
The Lord will make him safe and sound and happie in the land:
And he will not deliver him into his enemies hand.
