Edward
M. Barrows, Professor of Biology at Georgetown, gave
a Walking Tour of Georgetown University’s Outdoor
Campus and Gardens to Georgetown alumni and Library
Associates over Reunion Weekend in June. Author of
the book Nature, Gardens, & Georgetown, Professor
Barrows gave some valuable insights into the local
flora and fauna. His book reveals much natural history
of the University and the surrounding area, including
the fate of local trees during the Civil War, the history
of the College Walks, the many memorial gardens, and
the birds, insects and other wildlife most likely to
be seen on a stroll through campus.
