Access Services

- Course reserves forms
- Get articles electronically,with known citation (coming soon)
- Checking out material from GEORGE, the online catalog
- Renew an item checked out from GU's GEORGE or WRLC's Aladin
- Paging a book to be pulled from the shelves and kept at the Circulation Desk for ten days or until you pick it up
- Interlibrary loan forms. Usually, current books requested through ILL will be purchased rather than requested from other libraries
- Recalling a Book that is checked out or located in off-campus storage (2-5 days)>
- Electronic book collections by title in GEORGE
- Checking out materials from the Gelardin New Media Center and putting videos and other media on Media Reserves
- Finding materials not found in this library

Research & Instructional Services
- Faculty visits: I can make an appointment to meet in your office or in the library.
- I will review titles to confirm information for those writing textbooks or publications that refer to standard business sources. There have been a lot of changes in the publishing industry for example, Moody's is now Mergent's and Dow Jones News Retrieval is now Factiva.
- Reference Services from Research and Instruction Department
- Reference Desk is located in the Joseph Mark Lauinger Library (N and 37th St, N.W. Washington, DC). Locate the campus libraries: Library map. All Reference Librarians, have had business training, are on duty 9:00am-7:00pm M-Th, 9:00am-5:00pm Fr, 10:00am-6:00pm Sat, and 11:00am-9:00pm Sun. For holiday and vacation hours review the hours website. All reference librarians can help you define your search strategy as well as locate information about companies, industries, markets, or any business topic
- Find an answer from databases in the following topics: company, industry, finance, management, international business, marketing, economics, accounting & taxation, operations & information management, nonprofit organizations and others. Follow the directions for off campus access to databases if you are at home
- Get articles electronically, with known citation (coming soon)
- 24/7 assistance is also available, more about Live Help
- Get regular, automatic updates on a topic from selected databases using Article alerts
- Keep track of your references by using RefWorks
- Check who is citing your work by using Web of Knowledge

- If Lauinger Library does not own a book, journal, or video, you can request the Library to get it for free from another library or in some cases you can go to a local library and check it out yourself. See Interlibrary Loan and Direct Borrowing above
- Videos:
- All videos that Lauinger Library owns are listed in GEORGE, our catalog. To search by subject, start with a keyword search. You can limit your search to items in the "LAU Gelardin Media Center" (limiting from a large number of results will take a little time.) Contact the library (202 687-7452) if you need assistance
- Videos can be viewed in the library or checked out by faculty for 1 week (depending on availability)
- To show a video in a class, contact the Classroom Educational Technology Services (CETS) at 202 687-7491 or fill out the required form
- Media items in the WRLC Catalog are available through Media Share
- Periodicals:
- When thinking of adding new journals please take into consideration: are they indexed, using Ulrichs? already available in a full-text source? Price?
- Purchase requests for periodicals
- Report an Error Found in GEORGE form
- If you want to donate books or magazines, you can drop them off at the Reference Desk or call Greg at 202 687-1887 to pick up items from your office
- Other ways to help build the collection by making a donation or setting up a special fund
