LIVEDGAR TUTORIAL

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: This tutorial is intended to give the user a working knowledge of LIVEDGAR, a fee-based database of SEC filings, offered by GSI Online, (http://www.gsionline.com). LIVEDGAR is a complex and versatile database; this short tutorial cannot explain all its many functions. However, it should provide enough details to get you started. It is highly recommended that you spend a few minutes familiarizing yourself with the SEC's free Edgar database, (http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/webusers.htm), so that you will be aware of the different components contained in a filing. LIVEDGAR contracts are generally based on time spent using the system, in addition to per-search charges. Types of filings and their definitions can be viewed at (http://www.sec.gov/info/edgar/forms.htm).

LIVEDGAR obtains its filings data from the Edgar database, and maintains much of the same structure as Edgar. However, the LIVEDGAR interface is much more user-friendly, and has enhanced search capabilities and more "added value" features such as annual reports, company news, and financial quotes.

This tutorial does not attempt to explain all aspects of the LIVEDGAR database. Rather, it introduces the user to the database's features, and shows how to complete basic searches and retrieve filings, annual reports, and company information. Like the database, the tutorial is divided into 4 sections: Filings, Corporate Finance and M&A, Compliance, and News. Below is the menu you'll see after logging in. To begin this tutorial, either click on a section of the image below, or click on one of the buttons at the top or bottom of the screen. Throughout the tutorial, you can automatically go to another database section by clicking on any of these buttons.
