How to download from Bloomberg (academic account) into Excel


1. Once you have a Bloomberg screen open (on the right screen), select the page you want to capture.

2. Use the mouse to block the whole area you want to capture.

2a. When you lift your finger from the mouse, the page will not looked marked.

3. Press "control and c" to copy. No other copy command will work.

4. Go to the Window's Start button on the bottom left corner of the left screen.

4a. You may have to minimize the Bloomberg 1 screen, by moving your mouse down to the gray menu bar a the bottom of the screen. Move your cursor over Bloomberg 1, click right mouse button, and select minimize.

5. Select Programs.

6. Select Accessories.

7. Select Notepad.

8. Press "control and v" to paste image.

9. Go back to Bloomberg right screen and capture an other page, if you want additional information.

10. Save file as .txt file, by selecting File and Save. Save it on the Desktop.

11. Go to Window's Start button

12. Open Excel.

13. Open file, remember you saved the file as a .txt file.

14. Data wizard will open. Select next, next, and finish.

15. You will have to save the Excel file to a shared drive or the A:/ drive. You can not sign into the Bloomberg Station with your ID to get to your private drive.

16. Go back to the Desktop and delete your temporary .txt file.
