New Wireless Network Coming Saturday!

On Saturday, February 2, 2008, Lauinger Library will make the switch to our new wireless network!

During the switch all of our web services -- within the building, on campus and off-campus -- will be disrupted. Services that will be unavailable for some part of the day include:

  • George, the library catalog (down 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon)
  • Gelardin New Media Center computers, printing, and video editing (down 10:00 p.m. Friday - 2:00 p.m. Saturday)
  • The library website and all related services (down 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon)
  • Off-campus access to article databases (down 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon)
  • Interlibrary Loan (down 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon)
  • eReserves (down 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon)
  • Internet Access within Lauinger Library (down beginning 6:00 a.m.; restored on a floor-by-floor basis)
  • Printing in Lauinger Library (down beginning 6:00 a.m.; restored on a floor-by-floor basis)
  • Printing in Blommer Library (down 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon)

All service desks, including Reference, Circulation and the Gelardin New Media Center will be open according to their regular schedules.

»Preservation Program at Woodstock

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts has selected the Woodstock Theological Center Library to participate in their Preservation Needs Assessment Program, which is partially funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The assessment includes a site visit this spring from CCAHA Preservation Services staff to review Woodstock's preservation needs regarding environment, housekeeping, pest control, fire protection, security, disaster preparedness, storage, handling, exhibition, treatment, and preservation planning.

You are invited to learn about RefWorks, a new service for Georgetown University students, faculty, staff, and alumni. RefWorks is an online research management, writing, and collaboration tool designed to help researchers gather, manage, store, and share information as well as to generate citations and bibliographies.

»Joining the Conversation Joins PRIMO

The Library's tutorial, Joining the Conversation: Scholarly Research and Academic Integrity, has been awarded inclusion in the PRIMO project of the Association of College and Research Libraries.
