»Angel Tree 2006

Lauinger Library is participating in the Georgetown University Angel Tree 2006 project, a benefit to collect books for children in the DC community. Pick up an angel off one of the Angel Trees, buy a new book, write a personal note in the book, and drop it off in Lauinger's lobby or at any of the other drop-off sites around campus. Your generosity will provide new books to children in local schools, shelters, and after-school programs. The drive continues through December 24.

»More Study Space--We Heard You

We are pleased to announce that Lauinger Library, in cooperation with the Department of Public Safety and the University Registrar, will provide additional study spaces from December 6-19, 2006. Healy 103-105 and Maguire 101-104 will be open for study from Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 pm to 2:00 am. Rooms will be identified for Silent, Quiet, and Group study. These rooms should be used in accordance with the policy posted on the door of each room and will be monitored for safety.

»Gift for the Maurice Jackson Collection

Our thanks to Provost James J. O'Donnell, who has donated a rare 1953 edition of Mariners, Renegades, and Castaways: the Story of Herman Melville and the World We Live In to the library in honor of Maurice Jackson, Assistant Professor of History. The book has been placed in Special Collections as part of Professor Jackson's collection: Radicalism: A Work in Progress.

»Let's Talk About It!: Jewish Literature, Identity and Imagination Program Concludes

Thanks also to Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies Bibliographer Brenda Bickett, who served as Project Director for the Let's Talk About It!: Jewish Literature, Identity and Imagination reading and discussion series, in conjunction with the Program for Jewish Civilization. The program was made possible by a grant from the American Library Association.
