»160 Years of Visual and Audio History Online

AccuNet/AP Multimedia Archive is a dazzling online collection of more than a million photos dating back to 1826, thousands of graphics, and audio files dating from the 1920s. You’ll find speeches, anthems, most popular songs of the year or century, how-to charts, logos—even houses of the week with drafting plans. And because everything in this primary source database is licensed for educational research, you can use what you’ve found in research papers, PowerPoint presentations, and webpage creation. You can preview, copy and paste, email, download, or print what you’ve found, and a visual clipboard feature called “Lightbox” allows you to store up to 25 photos. AccuNet/AP Multimedia Archive allows searching by color, category (e.g., sports, business), type of photo (e.g., aerial, vertical), and pre-defined concepts (e.g., aggression, peaceful, solemn, vanity, lonely). Begin your search here.
