Feedback is Needed
The Library subscribes
to 258 Elsevier titles through ScienceDirect. Thanks to a new license
arrangement we will have perpetual online access.
Therefore, we believe there is no longer a need to continue to
subscribe to print versions of these journals. Please visit our
feedback page and use the form to let us know by Friday, September
8, 2006 if there are some titles where the print is necessary.

faculty, and staff from Lauinger Library, the Honor Council, the
Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS), the Registrar’s
Office, University Information Services, the Writing Center, and
each of the undergraduate schools. Faculty may access the tutorial in Faculty

from Qatar
The
SFS-Q Library welcomed the class of 2010 during Orientation
Week, August 6-10. 35 freshman students, representing 12 nationalities,
toured the
Library and attended an orientation session.
Classes
started
on August 13th in order to end the semester on November 30th--just
prior to the beginning of the Asian
Games, which are being hosted
by Doha and which will
without doubt disrupt traffic patterns throughout the city. The
Library has reached and exceeded its targeted goal of 15,000 volumes
by the end
of its first year
of operation.

Faculty: Advancing Student Research
As you plan your
fall semester courses, remember that the librarians of the Lauinger
and Blommer Science Libraries can be your partners
in introducing research methods and resources to your students. Here's
how:
Schedule a library research instruction session with a librarian.
- Librarians introduce
relevant periodical indexes, specialized databases, reference books,
and Web sites and strategies for
using them
- Students have
hands-on practice with research materials using the computers in
Dubin Classroom, first floor of Lauinger
- Sessions are
tailored to class assignments
- Sessions can
focus on particular research materials, e.g., primary sources, statistics,
government documents
- Request
a session online.
Link to Library
Guides to Research by Subject,
which point students in the direction of major resources in 60 topic
areas. These can be linked from a course Web site or Blackboard site.
We can even create a guide just for your course.
For more information
about library research instruction, contact Sandy Hussey at 687-8689
or visit
the Library Research Instruction page.
