The manuscripts are organized chronologically according to the dates on the original notebooks. Also included are series of undated poems, loose poems, and reviews written by Elizabeth Jennings. The loose and undated poems are arranged alphabetically.
In order to facilitate your research in this series, there are several items to note. First, the index is quite large, so if you know the title of the poem you want to view, please key in the entire title as there are probably many other poems with almost identical titles. Second, there will most likely be several poems with the same title, so if you know the rough dates of material you are searching for, please use this in choosing the box(es) to view. Third, the poems in the notebooks are put together in a shizophrenic manner. They are not arranged alphabetically, or in a logical fashion, the poem you are looking for could be anywhere in the notebook. (n.b. Make sure to look for page two, etc. of poems on the backs of other poems and/or follow the arrows that EJ put in for herself.)
Fourth, EJ's handwritting is not always legible, so the poem titles may not be completely accurrate. Also, in a few cases, the poem title was too long for the datebase, so the processor shortened the title slightly (the subject of the poem was not compromised).
