Obregon. Sent to Fr. Nevils, "Archivist of Georgetown University," by Mary D. Kenna of New York City in 1942 in gratitude for his rectorship of St. Ignatius Loyola High School in that city.

DESCRIPTION: Printed materials, letters, programs, and misc. pertaining to Rev. Nevils's two years of service on the Naval Academy Board of visitors. The Board met in Annapolis, conducted an inspection for one week each spring beginning in late April, and issued a report.

While Pres. of Georgetown he had declined a similar offer by another company to cruise to the North Cape, pleading the press of duty.

DESCRIPTION: Although in Nevils's Papers, he is not mentioned in this material. This folder holds information on the several years of background on the Washington bicentennial celebration of 1932. Circulars, news bulletins, invitations, and some letters of transmission to Georgetown's president comprise the bulk of the material. The celebrations were promoted and conducted by the traditional patriotic organizations.

DESCRIPTION: This material covers the last of the series of annual Washington birthday celebrations dating from the late 1920s, and began to focus on the celebration of the bicentennial of his birth in 1932. Nevils's was involved mostly as president of Georgetown, but apparently was not much interested in this project. Material mailed from the organizers comprise the bulk of the folder; there are few answers from Georgetown.

DESCRIPTION: Nevils was active in obtaining and having sent to Poland various kinds of relief, esp. for Jesuits, from the time part of the country was occupied by Germany until U.S. entry into World War II. Documents concern commercial supliers of relief packages, the American Assistancy of the Society of Jesus, correspondence with Rome, and information on contributions.
