Includes 2 TLS undated but probably written during the war years. Includes reference to picnicking with Julien Huxley and his wife. At the time, Huxley was director general of UNESCO. Also refers to the former's brother, Aldous.

DESCRIPTION: Contains correspondence covering the postwar years including the 1960s and some letters from the 1970s. Primarily consists of news to JKK from TDK about his life in France, where he continued to reside as editor of the French edition of House and Garden magazine. A group of letters bearing only partial dates seem to come from this period. In them, TDK writes about the reconstruction of his house at Senlis and his and his assistant Edmond Chouen's various activities; refers to his work with Vogue and its associates, especially Iva S.V. Patcevitch; advises JKK on the continued care of their aunts Mary, Elsie and Agnes Kernan.

DESCRIPTION: Contains correspondence from TDK to JKK that is only partially dated. The bulk appears to be post World War II. Arrangement is by month and day, although this should not be understood as being strictly chronological since years are unknown. Some of the stationery letterhead bears the address of TDK's second residence in Paris, Rue de Marignac, where he moved after his well-loved apartment building at the Place Vendome was converted into office space. Topics focus on TDK's travels in Europe, reconstruction progress of his house at Senlis in France, and advice to JKK regarding the care of their aunts.

This correspondence was written during this period. The letters detail the aftermath of World War II. TDK refers to his visits to the concentration camps just after liberation at Buchenwald and Dachau. Mentions his fear that Jean d'Ayen, husband of his friend Solange d'Ayen may have perished at one of the camps.

DESCRIPTION: Contains correspondence from members of the Little Brothers of Jesus to JKK. The fraternity was founded on the inspiration of the life of Charles de Foucauld by Father Rene Voillaume - approved by the Holy See in 1968 as a congregation of papal jurisdiction. After the death of Raissa, Jacques Maritain retired from the world to Toulouse to join the fraternity in January 1961.

DESCRIPTION: Contains business correspondence to TDK from the Psychological Warfare Division of the Allied Expeditionary Force, re employment. After his release from Baden Baden in 1943, TDK entered the U.S. Intelligence Service, serving in England and Germany until the end of the war. Includes TLS to TDK fro Colonel William J. ("Wild Bill") Donovan (1883-1959), dated 11/24/41.

DESCRIPTION: Contains TL carbons by TDK during the war years, to the U.S. Consulate, Spain, the Coordinator of Information, and the Office of War Information. The last letter, dated 12/26/44 concerns TDK's resignation from duties for the Office of War Information as a result of criticism he received for his book, "France on Berlin Time." In this 2 page TL carbon, TDK outlines the criticism and his attitude.
