Fall Course Planning for FacultyAs you plan your fall courses, contact your subject librarian to work with you, help scaffold learning in your course, and foster student inquiry and research. We can
- Teach course-specific resources and research strategies you want your students to use, including primary sources, data sets and statistics, non-English language material, images/multimedia, and citation management software (e.g., RefWorks).
- Work with students individually in research consultation appointments. Students get one-on-one assistance when they need it.
- Collaborate with you to craft research assignments to develop student research skills, beginning through advanced levels.
We can come to your class, create a specific course guide, be present in Blackboard, and make tutorials geared to your course needs. By using us, you can be sure that all students have the same information, understand their responsibilities, and know when to ask for help. Class sessions also offer you the opportunity to see students working through their initial research challenges and to answer questions.
You can link to our Course Guides, Subject Guides, and Tutorials in your Blackboard or course websites.

Portrait Drawing of Georgetown Professor John MorrellThe University Art Collection recently acquired a classical portrait drawing of Professor John Morrell, Chair of Georgetown's Department of Art and Art History. Made in 1976, the finely delineated ink portrait was drawn by Morrell's graduate teacher, Arthur Hall Smith, and exhibited that year at the Franz Bader Gallery in Washington, D.C. The drawing sold at the opening to local collectors Louis and Patricia Wener. Portions of their estate were sold at Weschler's auction house where the Morrell portrait was purchased by art curator LuLen Walker, on a tip from studio art instructor Scip Barnhart.

Mara’s primary responsibilities will be to the Georgetown Public Policy Institute and the Department of Economics, but she will also coordinate government information and social science data.
