Jennifer Boettcher, Georgetown's business librarian, has won this year’s Emerald Research Grant Award.  The grant is given yearly to support research in the field of business librarianship by the Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) division of the American Library Association.  Boettcher will use the grant to create a Web-based finding aid that will help both business librarians and patrons use core business titles that have been discounted, sold or recreated into new formats. The database will track these sources and provide a list of where to find similar information that these seminal works provided.  In selecting Boettcher’s proposal for this year’s award, the committee highlighted the thorough and detailed methodology, scope, timetable and projected outcomes for the project.  Keep an eye out for this excellent project!

You can now watch Bob Herbert’s lecture “Too Long Ignored” in the Digital Lecture Hall on the Library’s website.  Bob Herbert was this year’s lecturer for the annual Ellen Catherine Gstalder (C’01) Memorial Lecture in April. Herbert is a former op-ed columnist for The New York Times and current Distinguished Senior Fellow at Demos.  He wrote for The New York Times as an Op-Ed columnist for 18 years, addressing politics, urban affairs and social trends in a twice-weekly column.  Be sure to check out his lecture!

Just in time for finals, grad students can now reserve short-term private study rooms online!  There are ten rooms available on the 2nd and 4th floors.  Each room fits one person and has a door that can be closed for quiet, private study.  The rooms are reservable only for grad students and can be reserved for up to six hours a day, at least 12 hours in advance.  They are not storage rooms and cannot be locked—never leave your items unattended!  For more information or to reserve a room, go to library.georgetown.edu/rooms.
