Witness and Memory: A Poetry Reading with Safia Elhillo

Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here DC 2016 is a book arts and cultural festival that marks the bombing of Baghad’s historic book-selling street.

Safia Elhillo received an MFA in poetry from The New School and has been nominated for a 2015 Pushcart Prize and is joint winner of the 2015 Brunel University African Poetry Prize. You can find her work in several publications and in anthologies including The Break Beat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop.
