Laptop Printing - Install the Software

Before you can print to the library printers from your personal computer, you must download and install the appropriate print software.  Please select your Operating System to download the software and follow the installation instructions.

Note: This document walks you through the process of installing the software to enable printing from your Windows computer to the specified printers in Lauinger and Blommer Libraries. Once the software is installed you can then send your print job to the print queue.

 

In order to complete this installation, you will need the following:

  • "Windows 8 (except RT), Windows 7, Vista, or XP
  • Rights on your computer to install software (administrative rights)

 

Installing the Library Printing Software

  1. Download the Library Printing Software to your desktop.

  2. Double-click the downloaded file to run the installer.

     

  3. When the installer window appears, click Install to proceed.

  4. When the installation has completed, click Finish.

  5. You can now send your print job to the appropriate print queue.

Attention! Some computers will see error messages pop up after installation, be sure to see Step 8 for the resolution if you experience this.

In order to complete this installation, you will need the following:

  • Mac OS X 10.5.2 or later, or 10.6 or later
  • Fast User Switching disabled
  • Rights on your computer to install software (administrative rights)

 

Installing the Library Printing Software

  1. Download the Library Printing Software to your desktop.

  2. Double-click the downloaded  file to mount the disk image and then run the installer within it.

  3. At the Welcome screen, click Continue.

     

    4.  

  4. At the Read Me screen, click Continue.

  5. At the Destination Select screen, click Continue.

  6. At the Installation Type screen, click Install.

  7. When the installation is complete you will see the Install Succeeded screen. Click Close.

  8. For some installations, error messages "Popup Error: Failed to listen for incoming Popup jobs..." will appear unless the following change is done. Go to System Preferences -> Users & Groups -> Login Items. Select the Popup entry and click the Minus button to remove it. If the Minus button is unresponsive, click the Lock logo on the bottom left to allow changes to be made. Once removed, or if the Popup entry didn't exist, log out of your Mac OS session and log back in.

  9. You can now send your print job to the appropriate print queue.
