Welcome to Our New Electronic Resources Librarian

The Library welcomes Liz Jacobson, who joined us as our new Electronic Resources Librarian on August 1. Liz will be working with the Library’s rich collection of electronic journals, books and other resources to make them seamlessly accessible to the Georgetown community. She comes to Georgetown from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, where she held the position of Acquisitions/Electronic Resources Librarian, and was also appointed Acting Library Chief from 2011 to 2012. While at WRAIR, Liz worked with government contracts and procurement, acquired new materials for the library’s collection, cataloged and processed library materials, and managed all of the library’s electronic resources.

Liz received her Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Drexel University and her undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature, with a focus on Women’s Literature, from the University of Maryland at College Park. Prior to obtaining her Master’s, Liz worked for the Maryland General Assembly for the Department of Legislative Services as a library assistant, including organizing and cataloging Maryland Congressional bill files. Despite her background in military and government libraries, Liz has always had a great interest in academic libraries and looks forward to working at Georgetown University.  She is a fan of the outdoors and likes to spend her free time kayaking, mountain biking, and camping.
