We are currently installing new doors in the stairwell in Lauinger Library. During this time, visitors will not be able to use landings that are under construction, either to enter that floor or pass through en route to another. We encourage visitors to use the elevators, although the stairwell may still be used to access floors that are not under construction. Landings under construction should only be used in the case of an emergency.

Welcome to Our New Head of Metadata Services

The Library welcomes our new Head of Metadata Services, Shana McDanold, who joined us on October 1. Shana comes to us from the University of Pennsylvania, where she worked as the Head of the Electronic Resources & Serials Cataloging Unit.  She brings with her a broad range of knowledge and experience in cataloging. Shana will be working with the Library’s collections to enhance the discoverability of information for the Georgetown community.

Shana received her MLS degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. She has worked on several American Library Association committees for the Association of Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Continuing Resources Section. She currently serves as Chair of the Library of Congress PCC Standing Committee on Automation, and as Secretary on the Executive Board of the North American Serials Interest Group.
