Celebrating its 77th year of publication in 1999, Anesthesia & Analgesia
(A&A) is published monthly by the International Anesthesia Research
Society (IARS) and includes peer-reviewed, original clinical and research
articles, providing up-to-date information for practicing physicians,
researchers, and allied medical personnel in anesthesiology and related
fields. Anesthesia and Analgesia is also the official Journal of The
Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, the Society for Pediatric
Anesthesia and The Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia.
A&A Online contains the full content of each issue of the journal,
including all figures and tables. The full text is searchable by keyword,
author and citation, and cited references include hyperlinks to Medline
and to the full text of many other online journals.
Online full-text content begins with the January 1999 issue, and will
expand with each month's new issues. Abstract files are online beginning
with 1975 issues, and tables of contents from September 1965. In
addition, the tables of contents of upcoming issues will regularly be
placed online as future tables of contents.
The Web site also provides access to information about the journal
(Instructions to Authors, the Editorial Board, subscription information
and on-line subscription ordering), as well as access to other services,
such as classified ads.
Each issue will be placed online approximately on the date it is mailed to
subscribers; therefore the online site will be available prior to receipt
of your paper copy. Readers can receive an email of each new issue's
table of contents on the day of publication by signing up for "email
alerts", accessible from the home page and any table of contents page.
The site is free and available to all on the Internet until 31 March 2000.
After the free trial period, access to full text will be limited to print
journal subscribers or members of the Society; online access will be
included in the journal subscription price for institutions. Access to
tables of contents and abstracts, and the ability to search full text,
will continue to be available to the public.
We very much encourage you, on your first visit to the site, to "sign the
guestbook." This will take only a minute or two, and will give us helpful
information about who the online readers are, and how they are connecting
to us. In addition, we would appreciate comments, critiques, questions,
or suggestions from you; these can be sent via the Feedback button found
on all pages of the site. Feedback from readers will help us decide what
new features would be most valuable for the site and how well it is
working for its readers.
The site is being produced in conjunction with Stanford University's
HighWire Press, which also works with other medical/research journals,
such as these frequently-cited journals: Journal of Thoracic and
Cardiovascular Surgery, Stroke, Chest, British Journal of Pharmacology,
BMJ, Science, the Journal of Clinical Investigation, and the Journal of
