Assessment publishes articles derived from psychometric research, clinical
comparisons, or theoretical formulations and literature reviews that fall
within the broad domain of clinical and applied assessment.
The emphasis of this journal is on the publication of information of direct
relevance to the use of assessment measures, including the practical
applications of measurement methods, test development and interpretation
practices, and advances in the description and prediction of human behavior.
The scope of this journal extends from the evaluation of individuals and
groups in clinical, counseling, health, forensic, organizational,
industrial, and educational settings; to the assessment of treatment
efficacy, program evaluation, job performance or the study of behavior
Papers considered appropriate for publication encompass investigations
related to the development, validation, and evaluation of new or established
assessment instruments; the application of computer based technologies to
assessment issues; measurement of human characteristics, resources,
aptitudes, abilities or traits and description of abnormal behavior and
diagnosis of mental disorders.
Papers that focus on cognitive and neuropsychological assessment, the
interface of cognitive personality, and psychopathology domains, and the
definition of traits and behaviors that comprise aspects of normal behavior
and the realm of psychopathology are within journal purview.
Articles are invited that target empirical classification of normal and
abnormal behaviors and personality characteristics, theory and measurement
of diagnostic constructs, identification and clarification of mental
disorders, and reliability and validity of clinical diagnoses and

both clinical and nonclinical populations. research reviews and
methodological papers will be considered, and article format may be varied
to accommodate brief reports.
