The Journal for the Study of the Historical Jesus provides a forum for
academic discussion of Jesus within the context of first-century
Palestine; accessible to the very wide non-scholarly readership
interested in the way this topic is, and has been, investigated and
presented. The journal will focus on:

- weighing evidence to determine its relevance to the life and teaching
of Jesus, and exploring the significance of such evidence for
understanding Jesus;

- investigating the social, cultural and historical context in which
Jesus lives in order to shed new light on Jesus and his world;

- discussing the methodological issues surrounding the reconstruction of
the the historical Jesus;

- examining the history of historical Jesus research, whether retracing
earlier developments or exploring possible new trends;

- exploring how the life of Jesus is perceived in the arts and other
media, whether past or present.
