The School of Library Science at the University of Arizona is pleased to
announce the publication of The Olive Tree, the first scholarly journal
devoted to issues concerning library science and information management
published electronically on the World Wide Web. The World Wide Web is a
system of networks within the Internet which can produce graphics,
sound, and hypertext files which are accessible from anywhere in the

By publishing on the World Wide Web The Olive Tree can be accessed by
over 15 million people around the world. The first issue of The Olive
Tree, which was published in January 1995, has been read from such
diverse locations as Australia and the United Kingdom.

The Olive Tree uses this exciting new technology to provide a means of
distributing information within the fields of library science and
information management. The Olive Tree is a refereed journal dedicated
to the open dissemination of concepts and ideas within the fields of
library science and information management. This journal serves as a
source for librarians and other information professionals around the
world to share their opinions and research.
