InterNIC Information Services Introduces the Scout Report
A Weekly Summary of Internet Highlights

The Scout Report is a weekly publication offered by InterNIC
Information Services to the Internet community as a fast,
convenient way to stay informed on network activities. Its purpose
is to combine in one place the highlights of new resource
announcements and other news which occurred on the Internet during
the previous week. A wide range of resources will be included in the
Report, however the emphasis will be those which are thought to be of
interest to the research and education community, the InterNIC's primary

The Scout Report is provided in multiple formats -- electronic mail,
gopher, and World Wide Web -- to accommodate the range of network
access methods and preferences of the research and education
community and others interested in using the Internet effectively.
The gopher and World Wide Web versions of the Report include links
to all listed resources allowing instantaneous browsing of items of

The Report is released every Friday. Categories included each week will
vary, and the content and structure of the Report will evolve with time
and with input from the networking community. Comments and contributions
to the Scout Report are encouraged and can be sent to
