The primary goal of UK Nonlinear News is to allow researchers in the
applied and theoretical sides of nonlinear mathematics to keep abreast
of the wide variety of nonlinear activities throughout the UK. Broadly
speaking we hope that each issue will carry several articles about
various groups and activities, as well as shorter pieces of news,
reviews, and questions. Although primarily intended as a service to the
UK community, this should not be seen as exclusive, and participation
from overseas is welcomed.

UK Nonlinear News will be posted quarterly to the newsgroup
sci.nonlinear . It will also be sent out by email. To join the mailing
list, email with the word SUBSCRIBE in the
subject field. To unsubscribe, email with the
subject UNSUBSCRIBE. Any more complicated changes, eg change of email
address, should also be sent to

Issue Two will appear in mid-September 1995. Submission of news (new
courses, relevant seminars, new appointments, jobs, new research
directions), comments or articles about any aspect of nonlinearity in
the UK should arrive by arrive by 28th August. We will do our best to
include `late' submission.
