225 Items for 225 Years of Georgetown

As part of the year-long celebration of Georgetown University’s 225th anniversary, the Library’s Booth Family Center for Special Collections has launched an online exhibition of 225 items from Georgetown’s history. Many of the 225 documents, photographs and objects are available online for the first time in this exhibition.

Explore the University’s history through items such as a 1787 fundraising letter from Fr. John Carroll, a copy of the 1861 notice of occupation by the Sixty-Ninth New York Regiment, and an 1867 poem by student Warren Chism complaining about the quality of campus food. The exhibition includes dozens of photographs, the front page of the first edition of The Hoya, and many items related the University’s long athletic history.
