Explore New Intelligence Trial Databases

Two new intelligence databases are now on trial on the Library’s website. Try them out and let us know if you find them useful!

Cold War Intelligence Online – This unique collection of well over 2,300 formerly classified U.S. government documents (most of them classified Top Secret or higher) provides researchers for the first time with the documentary record of the successes and failures of the U.S. intelligence community in its efforts to spy on the Soviet Union during the Cold War. This document collection covers the period from the end of World War II in 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, but also includes a number of formerly classified historical reports and articles written by U.S. intelligence historians since the end of the Cold War.

U.S. Intelligence on the Middle East Online – This comprehensive document set sheds light on the U.S. intelligence community’s spying and analytic efforts in the Arab world, including the Middle East, the Near East and North Africa from the end of World War II to the present day. It includes documents relating to the 2002-2003 Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) assessments, the Global War on Terror, the Iraq War and Iran’s nuclear program.
