Georgetown Named National Digital Stewardship Residency Host Institution

Georgetown University Library has been named a host institution for the prestigious 2016-2017 National Digital Stewardship Residency. The program, which is run by the Library of Congress and the Institute of Museum and Library Services aims to develop “the next generation of stewards to collect, manage, preserve, and make accessible our digital assets.” Residents work within their host institutions on digital stewardship projects, allowing them to learn hands-on about the life-cycle of digital preservation from selecting collections for digitization to ensuring accessibility over time.

Georgetown University Library’s residency, Bring it All Home: Building Digital Preservation Processes for Digital Preservation Platforms invites applicants to work with the Library to develop digital preservation processes and resulting digital preservation operations. The program will provide the resident with valuable experience managing digital preservation projects and will give them the opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals both within the Library and in the broader campus community. Most importantly, the resident will be able to participate in the important conversation surrounding digital preservation and how top-tier academic libraries think about how information will be managed, preserved, and made accessible in the future.

Library, technology, and archival professionals can review all of the host institutions' programs and submit applications for the residency here
