Music as Cultural Mission

Join the Library Associates and the Music Program for this year’s opening Friday Music Series concert, Music as Cultural Mission: Explorations of Jesuit Practices. The concert will feature music created in the environs of the Society of Jesus from 18th-century Naples and from Georgetown. It will be held on Friday, September 19 at 1:15 pm in McNeir Auditorium.

The pieces to be performed at the concert are included in the recent volume Music as Cultural Mission: Explorations of Jesuit Practices in Italy and North America, edited by Professors Anna Harwell Celenza and Anthony DelDonna, both of the Department of Performing Arts. Several items came from the Library’s Special Collections Research Center’s broad collection of music manuscripts. Professors Celenza and DelDonna will be signing books following the performance.

This year’s performers will be Emma Boone, soprano; Zoe Novak, alto; Kelsey Kolasa, alto; Luke Schafer, tenor; Risa Browder, violin; Amy Domingues, cello; and Jinsun Cho, harpsichord.

Please RSVP by September 15 at library.georgetown.edu/rsvp.
