New Databases Available
We’re excited to announce eight new databases just in time for the new school year! Looking for something on Stalin? Early exploration of the western hemisphere? Papers of the English House of Commons? We’ve got them!
19th Century UK Periodicals - This database contains 1.2 million pages of periodicals published in Great Britain from 1800-1900. It includes publications on women, children, leisure and sport and humor. **Please note this is not a new collection, new content has been added to this collection.**
Colonial State Papers - This collection represents thousands of papers that were presented to the Privy Council and the Board of Trade between 1574-1757, and that relate to the governance of and activities in the American, Canadian and West Indian colonies of England.
Financial Times Historical Archive - The Financial Times Historical Archive is the complete searchable facsimile run of the world's most authoritative daily business newspaper. Every article and advertisement ever printed in the paper, since it was first published in 1888, can be searched and browsed individually and page by page.
House of Commons Parliamentary Papers - This collection includes over 200,000 House of Commons sessional papers from the 19th century (1801-1900).
Nineteenth Century British Library Newspapers - The 19th Century British Newspapers collection contains full runs of 48 newspapers specially selected by the British Library to best represent nineteenth century Britain. Special attention was paid to include newspapers that helped lead particular political or social movements such as Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule.
Nineteenth Century Collections Online - A multi-year global digitization and publishing program focusing on primary source collections of the nineteenth century, NCCO will be comprised of numerous collections to be released over many years. Collections now available are Asia and the West; British Politics and Society; British Theatre, Music and Literature: High & Popular Culture; and European Literature, 1790-1840. **Please note this is not a new collection, the Library recently updated our access to include four new archives.**
Sabin Americana, 1500-2926 - Based on Joseph Sabin's landmark bibliography, this collection contains works about the Americas published throughout the world from 1500 to the early 1900's, including books, pamphlets, serials and other documents that provide original accounts of exploration, trade, colonialism, slavery and abolition, the western movement, Native Americans, military actions and much more.
Stalin Digital Archive - This database presents archival materials and secondary research that have previously only been available at the RGASPI archive in Russia, supplemented by digital versions of Yale’s Annals of Communism series with additional scholarly commentary on selected documents concerning the history of Soviet and international communism from Russian state archives spanning the 75-year history of the USSR.
