The Library is pleased to announce that two new databases, JSTOR Sustainability and the Springer 2017 Computer Science E-Book Collection are now available!

JSTOR Sustainability

This sub-collection within JSTOR brings together 150 journals and 5,000 research reports on or related to "sustainability" -- including energy, ecology, history, urban planning, infrastructure, land management, and more. The collection can be searched on its own or within the main JSTOR interface.

It is a rich collection with a lot of information. For instance, did you know that Georgetown was a pioneer of natural gas use? In the 1840s the university had its own gas plant on campus and was one of only a few places to be using gas, while "the rest of the city continued to use oil and candles." Read more about it in Gas in Washington!

Springer 2017 Computer Science E-Book Collection

This collection contains the entire annual catalog of computer science monographs published by Springer. Records for the 481 individual titles published (so far) have been loaded into GEORGE and OneSearch, and we will continue to add to the collection as the year progresses!

Find titles on artificial intelligence, graphics, programming and software engineering, and much more! Some interesting titles include:

  • Security of Networks and Services in an All-Connected World, Daphne Tunder and Robert Koch
  • Logic, Language, and Computation , Helle Hvid Hansen and Sarah E. Murray
  • E-Learning, E-Education, and Online Training, Giovanni Vincenti and Alberto Bucciero
  • and more!
