Poetry Reading with Safia Elhillo

On February 29 the Library’s Booth Family Center for Special Collections will host an event as part of the book arts and cultural festival Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here DC 2016, marking the bombing of Baghad’s historic book-selling street. "Witness and Memory" features a poetry reading by Safia Elhillo. Elhillo received an MFA in poetry from The New School, is nominated for a 2015 Pushcart Prize and is joint winner of the 2015 Brunel University African Poetry Prize. You can find her work in several publications and anthologies, including The Break Beat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop.
