We are currently installing new doors in the stairwell in Lauinger Library. During this time, visitors will not be able to use landings that are under construction, either to enter that floor or pass through en route to another. We encourage visitors to use the elevators, although the stairwell may still be used to access floors that are not under construction. Landings under construction should only be used in the case of an emergency.
Mark Winek joined the staff of Lauinger Library on July 29 as the Electronic Resources Librarian in the Technical Services Department. He will be maintaining and troubleshooting the Library's extensive electronic resources to ensure their optimal accessibility to the University community. Mark previously served as an Electronic Resources Specialist and Reference Librarian at American University. While there, he tested and made accessible versions of library electronic resources for use on users' mobile devices.
Mark received his Masters of Science in Library and Information Science from The Catholic University of America. He earned a BA in International Studies with a minor in Russian from American University, where he concentrated on the international relations aspects of Cold War radio propaganda. Professionally, he serves on the board of the Potomac Technical Processing Librarians and as the managing editor for ACRL's Slavic and East European Section newsletter. While not at work, Mark keeps busy as an amateur radio operator and reading obscure non-fiction works on Soviet history.
