Technology Guides Available
Both teaching and research can benefit from the skillful use of technology. Knowing what technology is available, and learning how to use it, however, can often complicate your effective use of new tools. The Georgetown University Library and University Information Systems have cooperatively compiled guides to technology for Georgetown students and faculty. Copies are available in the Library or from UIS. E-ssentials: The Georgetown Student Guide to Campus Technology and Technology 2000: A Guide for Georgetown University Faculty provide Main Campus students and faculty with information about the technology resources available from the Georgetown University Library and from University Information Services. Systems and services covered in both guides include e-mail, multimedia development, classroom presentation technology equipment, research tools, training courses, and the Internet. Unique to Technology 2000 are descriptions of the technology and support available in your office, from off-campus, for research, and for teaching in the classroom. Topics include CourseInfo, Electronic Periodicals, Faculty Access+, Geographic Information Systems, and Statistical Computing. Technology 2000 will be mailed to each faculty member early this month. Copies will also be available from the Library and UIS. Each chapter in both guides is divided into sections to make information easier to find:
