GU-Q librarians have adopted the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, developed by Association of College and Research Libraries [ACRL] to ensure that GU-Q students have opportunities to develop and demonstrate skills in identifying, locating, evaluating and using academic information resources.
At the start of the Freshman Year the librarians administer a standardized test to determine the information literacy skills of incoming students. In collaboration with learning enrichment specialists in the Office of Academic Services we ensure that first-year students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds attain the core information and learning skills required for academic success at GU-Q.
