Using Line/Cite to Add Citations to Papers

One Line/Cite View is an alternative to using Write-N-Cite to create parenthetical citations and bibliography. Line/Cite does not require any software installation and can be used in any word processor program.

Using Line Cite

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open your paper in in any word processor
  2. Login to RefWorks
  3. View all records, using the drop down menu below tool bar, All References Switch to: and select One Line/Cite View
  4. Select citation you want to add you your text by clicking Cite link next to record title
  5. Citation Viewer will open; click on Select Citation
  6. Then simply copy/paste command or drag citation to the text where it should be in your paper
  7. Click on Clear to remove citation from Viewer
  8. Keep adding citations to your paper
  9. Save the your paper
  10. Click on Bibliography in the RefWorks toolbar
  11. Choose Output Style
  12. Select Format Paper and Bibliography, first option,
  13. Find Document to Format, by browsing to your paper's file
  14. Click on Create Bibliography
  15. Program will form Bibliography List, save the document as usually
  16. If a Bibliography List does not show, you can select to Download it or E-mail it to yourself
