Dubin Classroom

Policy: 

Non-library classes may be scheduled on a one-time, irregular basis if the Dubin Classroom is not scheduled for a priority function. Any library use receives priority over non-library use. Hardware and software available in the classroom will be limited to that which is specified by the Library. Faculty and staff requesting use of the room will be informed at least four business days prior to the class/meeting date if they can be accommodated. Classes are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority for library research instruction sessions.

Murray Room

Available to faculty and staff for academic meetings and university-sponsored events

Use This Service: 

All users must complete and sign the Authorization Request for Use of Murray Room (PDF) and submit it via fax at (202) 687-7501 or campus mail, to the Lauinger Library Program and Events Coordinator at least one week prior to the meeting date, and no earlier than 30 days before the meeting date.

Fifth floor of Lauinger Library

Hours: 

The Murray Room is available Monday through Friday only, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Policy: 

The Murray Room is not intended for use as a classroom or for nonuniversity-related activities. A minimum of 10 people is required in order to use Murray. Food is not permitted. A current photo ID with expiration date is required to enter the library. In addition, anyone without a GU ID must sign in. All requests for use of the Murray Room are considered tentative until confirmed by the Library Administration Office. Additionally, please review the Murray Room Policies and Guidelines (PDF).

Picchi Multimedia Room

A small Macintosh-based classroom, available for general use by Georgetown patrons when not reserved for workshops.

Use This Service: 

SAVE ALL CONTENT TO AN EXTERNAL DEVICE. Save often to an external device or email to yourself. All computers in this area are wiped immediately when they are logged off.

This room is sometimes reserved for instruction.

Location: 

The Picchi Multimedia Room is located in the Gelardin New Media Center on the first floor of Lauinger Library, room 140.

Hours: 

This area is open as long as the library is open. A valid Georgetown University ID is required to stay in the building past (11pm).

Policy: 

These computers are only available to users with a valid Georgetown University log-in. No exceptions.

Small Group Multimedia Editing Room (Room 158)

A small classroom designed for small group video and audio editing.

Use This Service: 

These computers are only available to users
(a) who have had a consultation and have a signed use-agreement form on file at GNMC, and
(b) who have a valid Georgetown University log-in.

No exceptions.

Location: 

Located on the first floor of Lauinger Library. Keys must be checked out from the service desk at the Gelardin New Media Center.

Hours: 

These rooms are available during Gelardin New Media Center hours.

Special forms are available to allow users to remain in this room after closing.

Policy: 

This room requires training before use. A multimedia specialist may come to your class to go over these policies and have you sign the appropriate forms. Otherwise, you will need to schedule a consultation

Each patron is only guaranteed one 2-hour reservation per day. Reservations must be made in advance in person or via telephone (Main Desk 202-687-7410). Users may stay in the room past their 2 hour allotment, but must be prepared to surrender the space in light of other reservations.

A key must be checked out from the main desk to gain entry to the studio. A valid GOcard is required.
