Gelardin New Media Center Open Computing Area

Research, write papers, and more at the largest computer lab on campus

Use This Service: 

Save often to an external device or email to yourself. All computers in this area are wiped when they are restarted, and they are restarted often.

Location: 

The Gelardin New Media Center is located on the first floor of Lauinger Library.

Hours: 

This area is open as long as the library is open. A valid GoCard is required to stay in the building past 11pm.

Policy: 

This space is open to all patrons of Lauinger Library. Please note that if you do not have a valid Georgetown University ID you may still enter the library by showing a valid photo ID and signing in at the front entrance.

Connecting to the Wireless Network

AirHoya Wireless Network, which provides over-the-air access to the University network and the Internet using personal devices such as a laptop, is available in both the Lauinger and Blommer Science Libraries.

Use This Service: 

All members of the University community, including students, faculty, staff, and other affiliates, can use AirHoya. No special accounts or provisioning are required. There are no service charges for individuals to use AirHoya. AirHoya supports any device that complies with the 802.11b standard. Although many operating systems and client applications can be used to configure and connect with a wireless device, University Information Services only provides support for Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X, and Palm TX. Step-by-step setup instructions are available for these operating systems.
