1. What is WRLC?
WRLC, http://www.wrlc.org/ the Washington
Research Library Consortium, is a resource-sharing
organization composed of seven universities
in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area
established to expand the information resources
available to their students and faculty.
University libraries participating in WRLC
include The American University, The Catholic
University of America, Gallaudet University,
George Mason University, The George Washington
University, Marymount University, The University
of the District of Columbia. Trinity College,
an affiliated institution, participates in
a number of WRLC programs. In general the
law and medical libraries (including those
at Georgetown) do not provide access or lending
to WRLC borrowers.
2. Where do I look for books and journals
held by WRLC libraries?
The WRLC catalog, contains over 3 million
bibliographic records, representing almost
5 million volumes held by WRLC libraries.
Over the next few months, records for over
1.6 million items held in the Georgetown
University Libraries will be made available
through WRLC Catalog. The integration of
Georgetown holdings with the WRLC catalog
is expected to be completed by January 2003.
3. Who can borrow from WRLC libraries?
Georgetown University Main Campus students,
faculty, and staff may borrow materials from
WRLC libraries. In general the law and medical
libraries do not provide access or lending
to WRLC borrowers.
4. What are my borrowing privileges at WRLC
libraries?

5. How do I borrow books from WRLC libraries?
Georgetown University Main Campus students,
faculty, and staff are able to borrow books
from any WRLC library. Media collections,
special collections, reserve materials, and
reference materials do not circulate. There
are two ways to borrow books from the WRLC
libraries.
- Go in person to the WRLC library and use
your GOCard as your identification.
- Request
that materials owned by any WRLC
library be delivered
to Georgetown through
the Consortium
Loan Service (CLS).
Items
will be delivered
to the Lauinger
Library Circulation
Desk.
To request materials
from the WRLC catalog,
Find the book you want and go into the items'
record
Check "status" at
the bottom of
the record. If available
you may order
Click
on the "Request" button
on the menu bar at
the top of the screen.
Type your University
ID number from
your GOCard
(a nine-digit
number
beginning with
8) and your last
name
The Consortium
Loan Request form
should
appear on your
screen with the
title
of the book or
journal you're
requesting
at the top
of the form. Fill
in the
form to
request the
book.

6. Can I get copies of journal articles
from WRLC libraries?
Yes. Georgetown University Main Campus
students, faculty, and staff may request
copies of
journal articles from
journals not owned by Georgetown University
Libraries of less
than 50 pages through
the Consortium Loan Service
(CLS). While
photocopies of journal
articles may be picked
up at the Lauinger Library Circulation
Desk, you now have the
option to have journal
articles delivered via the web through
myALADIN. To use this
document delivery
option, you must register your e-mail account
on myALADIN. Articles
will be accessible
for a period of 2 weeks before they are
automatically deleted. Detailed
instructions on using

7. Where do I pick up books and journal
articles sent to Georgetown from other WRLC
libraries?
Books and photocopies from other WRLC libraries
should be picked up at the Circulation Desk
in Lauinger Library. Books will be held under
your name for 10 days before being returned.
Photocopies of journal articles may be accessed
via the web if your e-mail address is in
your myALADIN account. If not, journal articles
can be picked up at the Circulation Desk.
8. Where do I return books borrowed from
WRLC libraries?
Books borrowed from any WRLC library may
be returned to any WRLC library. Thus, books
you borrow from American University may be
returned to Lauinger Library, Gelman Library
at George Washington, or any other WRLC library.
9. Can I use the WRLC article indexes and
databases available in Aladin?
No, the licenses for these resources were
negotiated before
Georgetown University
joined the WRLC. To see the article indexes
and
databases available
to Georgetown users
