Digital Scholarship Bootcamp for Graduate Students

Do you want to build your very own digital scholarship portfolio? Now you can at the Library’s Digital Scholarship Bootcamp! This 3-day workshop series is intended to help graduate students gain experience with key digital scholarship methodologies and tools. Participants will leave with a digital portfolio of small projects completed during the program. The workshop will cover creating a website for your scholarship, text mining, mapping, and creating infographics.

Graduate students from all disciplines are welcome. To participate, you simply need a topic of interest, some text related to that topic, and some geographic locations related to that topic. Wondering what that might look like? Here are some examples:

Discipline: History

  • Topic: Witch Trials
  • Text: Transcript of court proceedings from a trial
  • Geographic Locations: Locations where witch trials were held

Discipline: English

  • Topic: Jane Austen
  • Text: Austen’s major novels
  • Geographic Locations: Prominent places mentioned in the novels

Discipline: Business

  • Topic: Amazon.com
  • Text: Corporate communications from the company
  • Geographic Locations: Finalist locations for Amazon’s second headquarters.

If you'd like to participate but are struggling to find either text or geographic information related to your topic, please contact digitalscholarship@georgetown.edu for assistance.
