Writing for a Broader Audience

Georgetown Scholarly Communication Workshops

Program Description

This workshop features Vanessa Lide, who edits pieces for The Monkey Cage, the Washington Post's blog aimed at providing broader access to current political science research and research from affiliated disciplines that are relevant to politics, such as sociology, economics, psychology, and history. Writing for The Monkey Cage and other online sites for research-based articles is a great way to bring your research to the attention of the public. In this workshop, you will learn about pitching a story, writing for a broader audience, and you will learn some tricks of writing for online readers.
