Georgetown Make48 Information Session and Mixer

Students speaking at Make48 2017

Become a part of Georgetown’s Make48 team! Join us on March 16 for an informational mixer to learn about the televised product-development makeathon. No experience required, just creativity!

NOTE: Participation open to Undergraduates only. Spring 2018 graduates may apply.

In mid-August 2018, with support from the Maker Hub and StartupHoyas, Georgetown University will be sending a team of 4 entrepreneurial innovators to Baltimore to participate in Make48, a nationally televised “Makeathon,” where students from leading universities have 48 hours to create a marketable product. 3 winning teams will get the chance to develop and license their product in hopes of getting it to market. The competition will be recorded for season 3 of the Make48 Television series, available on PBS, and will include not only the event itself, but also the journey of the winners from prototype to store shelves.

Fabrication experts will be on-hand at the event to help with prototype construction, so you don’t need to be a digital design or 3D printing genius to participate.

If you love coming up with new ideas for products, if you thrive under a time crunch, and if you and work well in a team, this could be the event for you.

About the Mixer/Information Session:

At this info session/mixer, we’ll go over the details of the event, and most importantly have activities designed to help you identify your strengths and meet students with complementary skill sets to form a well-rounded team. Staff will be on hand to help you record your application video if needed. You can come with a whole team ready to go, or come alone and form a team at the event.

Note: If you can’t make it to the mixer, you can introduce yourself to the group, and find other potential teammates, by editing this google doc
