Overview of 3D scanning and modeling tools

Overview of 3D scanning and modeling tools

Moving beyond TinkerCAD. Creative 3D work, especially with real-world components, requires working with a variety of software tools. Photogrammetry software allows you to turn 3D images into 3D models. Other tools will help you clean up your scans, combine them with other objects, place them in 3D environments, and share them online. This workshop will provide an overview of, and hands-on experience with, a wide array of free 3D scanning (photogrammetry), modeling, and sharing tools. Tools to be covered include (install in advance if you are interested in trying out these tools during the workshop): Photogrammetry tools; Trnio; Meshlab; Meshmixer; Blender; Sketchup; Sketchfab; and more!
