Media Equipment Moving from Gelardin to Circulation Desk
Media Equipment Transition
Beginning in January 2020, the circulation of media equipment currently available from the Gelardin New Media Center will move to the 3rd-floor Circulation Desk in Lauinger. By creating a convenient single circulation point for all Library resources (open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 10 pm on Friday and Saturday), the Library will provide extended hours for the checkout and return of media equipment.
Accessing Gelardin rooms is also changing slightly in Spring 2020. Users will continue to make reservations for Gelardin equipment and the editing and production spaces through the online reservation system, but the editing rooms will no longer be locked and will be available whenever the Library is open, nearly 24/7. To use the Production Studio, the 158 CoLab, and the Animation Studio (edit room #2), you’ll need to check-in at the 3rd-floor Circulation Desk instead of the Gelardin service desk starting in January.
Please note that Gelardin staff will continue to provide support and expertise to the Georgetown community during and after this transition. This includes offering individual consultations and instruction for course assignments, as well as open workshops. We will also be available to respond to questions at the Gelardin service desk Monday-Friday from 10 am - 4 pm.
